(Ashiana Sheffield has over 30 years’ experience working with Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) adults, children and young people fleeing domestic and sexual abuse including forced marriage, human trafficking, female genital mutilation, gang violence and ‘honour’-based violence.)

  • ‘Issues’ faced by our client group:
    • Human trafficking and Modern Slavery
    • FGM
    • Forced Marriage
    • ‘Honour’ Related Abuse
    • Domestic and sexual violence
  • Discussion – how these ‘issues’ intersect. That we don’t consider our clients to be the ‘issues’ they present with. That we need to look at impacts and avoid assuming best route of support for someone.
  • Impacts of abuse and exploitation (including discussion around trauma and PTSD)
  • Trafficking and the National Referral Mechanism (process by which potential survivors of trafficking are identified and referred into support.
  • Areas of concern with this process.
  • Pre-trafficking precarity
  • Our model of support and good practice response.

 

How do I book?

 

There are 60 places available which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

There is a small charge of £40 per place to cover the cost of this training and we ask you to give us your business unit code so that we can recharge your local authority or contact Sally.Dean@sheffield.gov.uk for method of payment.    We are unable to refund any costs should you cancel your place.
